What's Inside?
A signed book - 'Death Holds the Key' by Alexander Thorpe.
A candle - Rosemary and Mint - I love the map at the beginning of the book and was drawn to the cottage garden and the scents I associated with it. Rosemary and Mint felt fitting to set the scene for this cosy crime novel.
An alcoholic beverage - Everleigh Bottling Co Gin Martini - When thinking about beverages of the 1920s I couldn’t go past a classic Gin Martini. Simply chill, then pour into an ice cold cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist, an olive or a pickled onion.
or a non-alcoholic beverage - Pyewacket’s Traditional Rosemary Lemonade Shrub - Best enjoyed with soda water, this shrub syrup is made with homegrown rosemary by a small Australian Business. Keep refrigerated and enjoy!
A bookmark - Embedded with Rosemary seeds, simply plant in well draining soil and leave in full sun to grow.
A surprise - Byron Bay Coffee Company Chocolate Coated Coffee Beans - Coffee is mentioned multiple times in this cosy crime novel so what better way to enjoy it than coated in delicious dark chocolate.
About the book...
When loathed landholder Fred O’Donnell is found dead in a locked room with a bullet in his chest, rookie Detective Hartley must seek help from a mysterious wanderer to solve the case. And it’s one where everyone, including O’Donnell’s family, has a motive and a secret to keep.
Featuring the mendicant monk from Thorpe’s previous novel, Death Leaves the Station, readers will be drawn into the world of small-town Western Australia in the late 1920s, delighting in the characters as they navigate the strained sensibilities and dark secrets of the past.
Full of twists and turns, this seemingly impossible murder mystery is cosy crime writing at its finest.
